Meet Shovel City Improv

Shovel City Improv creates live, unscripted comedy built entirely in the moment.

Based in Marion, Ohio, the group performs scenes, characters, and games using audience suggestions as the starting point. There’s no script so every performance is different and the audience is part of what shapes the show.

The format gives the performers room to react quickly, build on each other’s ideas, and take the show in directions no one could plan in advance. Some performances are fast-paced and game-driven, while others allow scenes and characters to develop over a longer stretch.

As part of Obvious Joke Productions, Shovel City Improv will continue performing regularly while expanding into additional shows, collaborations, private events, and special appearances throughout the area.

The group will also be a frequent part of the entertainment lineup at The Sterling Room at Kin & Kilt in Downtown Marion, creating another regular home for live improv comedy in the community.
